The French Language

French, known as franรงais, is a Romance language within the Indo-European family. It evolved from Gallo-Romance, the spoken Latin in Gaul, and particularly in Northern Gaul.

Language Family and Similarities

French is part of the Gallo-Romance group of the Oรฏl languages. It shares similarities with other Romance languages like Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, and Romanian.

Writing System

The writing system is based on the Latin script, and there is also French Braille for the visually impaired.
