Geographical Distribution

The Turkish language is primarily spoken in Turkey 🇹🇷 and Northern Cyprus 🇹🇷. It is also an official language in Cyprus 🇨🇾, with communities in various other countries.

Number of Speakers

Approximately 90 million people speak Turkish, with around 84 million as their first language and about 6 million as a second language.

Language Family

Turkish belongs to the Oghuz group of the Turkic language family.

Similar Languages

Turkish shares similarities with other Oghuz languages like Azerbaijani and Turkmen, and other Turkic languages.

Writing System

The Turkish language uses the Latin alphabet with some modifications and also has a version of Braille.
